Who we are

Alstrem is an independent business development consultancy with its primary office in Dublin, Ireland.

We work with clients and companies with interests in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, requiring executive level strategic sales, marketing and commercial expertise to identify, evaluate and realise business opportunities available to them in this region.

Our clients engage us for our deep market insight, extensive experience and credible in-market contacts in the public and private sectors. We operate across a broad range of key industries – energy, infrastructure, financial institutions, technology and telecommunications.

Our business approach is transparent and straightforward. The co-founders have extensive experience in these markets from previous senior positions with leading multi-national organisations for whom they delivered considerable success. They draw on this experience and a wealth of market knowledge and business contacts, developed over more than 30 years, to advise and guide their clients in the development and implementation of effective strategies and plans.

Our founders

Alstrem is led by co-founders Joe Geoghegan and Charles Anyaegbunam – two experienced international business development specialists with a successful track record in these complex, competitive and demanding markets.

Joe Geoghegan

Joe is an Economics and Politics graduate from University College Dublin, is Honorary Consul of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Ireland and Chairman of the Arab-Irish Chamber of Commerce. Joe previously held positions as the International Sales and Marketing Director with Kindle Banking Systems, Assistant Chief Executive, Coras Trachtala/Irish Export Board (CTT) and Regional Director Asia-Pacific, CTT, based in Singapore. Joe has wide experience in business development in Europe, North America, the Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.

Charles Anyaegbunam

Charles is an Engineering graduate of University of Dublin, Trinity College. He previously held senior roles in Kindle Banking Systems, Misys and Temenos before setting up Alstrem. Over the past 20 years Charles has worked in international business development and he has taken a leading role in many client engagements and has been ultimately responsible for the successful delivery of many high profile business outcomes. Charles is recognised as an astute strategic thinker in constructing business deals and has won many accolades for his professionalism, results orientated focus and notable successes over the years. He holds a first class honours in Business Finance from the Irish Management Institute.

Frank Monaghan

Frank is an Associate Director in charge of Europe. He comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience of the ICT sector in Ireland the UK, Europe and the US where he has built up an extensive network of senior level contacts across the industry. Previous engagements with companies such as Telenor Group, Jabil Inc., Ericsson, Philips, Hibernia Atlantic, Magnet Networks and Sanmina, have included new business development, acquisition appraisal and completion, plus fibre network planning, sales and roll-out in Ireland and the UK.

Our focus

Alstrem focusses mainly on sectors with high growth prospects and high value projects in the region and, where possible but not exclusively, with minimal operational interactions with government agencies.

We favour working with established clients which already have international experience in other regions and which are looking towards larger value transactions. We favour projects with the potential to generate short to medium term returns and which have the scope to deliver sustainable long-term value.
